Building the Recruiting Accelerator

How one frustrating recruiting season became the foundation for a program designed to help every OMBC member compete for opportunities they never thought were possible.

Why It Started

When I started recruiting for internships, I quickly realized success wasn't just about working hard. Some students knew when applications opened, how to network with recruiters, and how to prepare months in advance. Others never had access to that information. The difference wasn't potential — it was access.

"Talent is everywhere. Access to mentorship is not."

The Question

I kept asking myself one question:

What would I build if I could redesign recruiting for Ole Miss students from scratch?

Building It

- Resume Reviews Personalized feedback, turned around fast.

-  Mentorship Students learning from students who've already been through it.

- Mock Interviews Practice before the one that actually counts.

- Recruiting Strategy A real plan, starting with the earliest and highest-bar pipeline.

- Accountability Regular check-ins through the entire recruiting cycle, not just at the start.

What I Learned

Building the Recruiting Accelerator reminded me that meaningful change rarely starts with having all the answers. It starts with paying attention to a problem, asking better questions, and taking the first step toward solving it.

"People don't need more motivation. They need a clearer path."

Looking Ahead

My hope is that the Recruiting Accelerator becomes bigger than the people who started it. If future OMBC leaders keep improving it every year, it has the potential to become one of the most valuable resources our organization offers.

I didn't build the Recruiting Accelerator because I had recruiting figured out. I built it because I knew what it felt like not to.
